Ignition Lock Removal

Replacing the electrical portion of the ignition key switch?

Haynes, Chapter 12, Section 20, will tell you how to get the Ignition housing out of the car.

It does not tell you how to pop out the key lock so you can get at the electrical part. The key mechanism is held in place by a hidden retaining spring. You have to drill an 1/8" hole so you can pop out the key lock. Very rarely does the 924/944 come with this hole already drilled. See the images below on  where to drill the hole. Now you can push on the retaining spring and it pops out.
